My good deals

The irony is not lost on me that I'm posting about food deals after the last post, but oh well.

In the last two days, I've been to CVS, Target, Walmart,
Publix and Costco. Here are my deals. (and whew)

CVS  was so nice. At the checkout the nice cashier flipped open his notebook and scanned coupons for the items that I had. Very nice. He saved me an extra $3. I like their bonus bucks things. If you have a CVS card (Go online and sign up and they will send your card in the mail.) you buy certain items and you get "bucks" on your card. Then your next visit, you
use your "bucks" instead of or along with real money.

So their Pantene is 3 for $10, which is a good deal to begin with, but then you get $3 back on your CVS card. He scanned me a coupon too, so that was even better.

Crest toothpaste was $1.77. Good deal and he scanned me a coupon.
Speed Stick deodorant for Allen was buy one get one free.

The trick is to have coupons to go along with these deals to make them even better, but I had been slacking on my Sunday papers, so I don't have my coupon stock pile that I usually do.

Publix had some great deals this week: (Thank you, Kathy, for sending me there...)

Their organic milk is $4.62 a gallon.

Organic eggs are 2 for $6.

Their Greenwise recycled toilet paper is $4.99 for 12 rolls.

Kashi granola bars are buy one get one free, so that makes them $1.87 for a box of 6.

Their organic Greenwise cereal is $2.87ish a box.

The chocolate Almond milk is $2.62ish a box.

Okay, now Costco.

Allen likes Cliff bars for breakfast, and they are $19 a box of 24. They are $4.97 for 6 at Walmart. That makes them $.79 versus $1.20.

My favorite thing is the natural chicken. It's $2.49 a pound for boneless/skinless breasts. The best thing is the come 2
to a package and the packages are perforated. You can zip off a pack of 2 for dinner, and those 2 feed all 5 of us. There are 6 packages, or 12 breasts total. And the pack is $18-20 dollars. That's $3.33 to feed your family a dinner as far at the chicken goes.

We love the organic fruit leathers by Stretch Island. A box of 48 is $10.69. That's $.23 a piece. And they are real fruit. The kids love them.

Costco also has frozen organic fruit. Blueberries are 3 pounds for $13.59. They also have the raspberry/blackberry/blueberry fruit mix 3 pounds for $10.99. These are so great for smoothies. Oh, and my new things is to throw organic fresh baby spinach in a smoothie. They have
that at Costco too. It's $3.99 for a big thing of it. I use PLAIN yogurt, some rice milk (or regular) some honey, a banana, some fruit and some fresh spincah. Blend all up (make sure the fruit is frozen so it'll be all frozeny. Or you can toss some ice in there) and the kids will suck it down. Here is a link if you need more info: http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/mb.asp?cmd=display&thread_id=2568563
I use my regular old blender. They have really nice ones at Costco too, for $30. Glass and stainless steel ones. (Cheaper than Walmart...)

(OHHH they also have a Shark steam mop too. I really want
that. I'm going to save my pennies. It uses tap water and steams your floors super clean. It was $70, so that's a lot of pennies, but how cool is that? NO CHEMICALS and a clean floor!)

Okay, so where was I? I'm really tired. Um, Oh, I love Costco's bread too. No soy, no HFCS and it's $4.39 for a pac
k of two loaves.

And the famous organic ice cream sandwiches too. OH BOY they are SO good. They are $8.89 for a box of 12. That's cheaper than the yucky ones at the grocery store.
I may have missed a thing or two. And I also bought some Spanx rip offs today at Walmart. I'm old. I wear a girdle. ;P But at least I'm a good steward of my money!!! lol....I should burn off some calories by putting all this stuff up too. Geesh.

Oh and this is the picture Laney drew while at Costco of my small melt down. It's a very hard place to go with Zane, and he had just had a melt right in the middle of the store. Full red faced screaming because I wouldn't let him get down. I was holding him, mid melt down, when I spotted a nice Costco lady giving out samples of M&M's (Why do that? Is there not one person in Alabama who doesn't know what an M&M is? Of course my kids still call them "Hymm and M's" because they used to get them in chidren's choir for memorizing their hymm for that month.) ANYWAY, I put Zane back into the buggy and handed him his little cup of M's and of course he dropped them all over the floor. I'm crawling around on the floor, holding up all the busy Costco people/buggy traffic while I gather up all the M&M's. I throw away them all, sweaty and red faced from embarrassment, and sneak to the nice lady and grab another cup for him. (yeah, like we can collectively sneak up on
anyone.) So we make it all of 3 feet and he drops some AGAIN. This is when I say so gently and sweetly (YELL), "STOP DROPPING THEM..." And this is what the caption says. She even got my skull (with his gold tooth) right on my shirt. *sigh* I love my kids. I really do. They were great today. With all that running around, I shouldn't complain.

Grant loves reading your blog. Lat night he said, "Miss Amy's blog is so funny. How does she do that?" He thought for a minute then said, "It must be because she has three kids and they always give her stories to tell."

I absolutely love Laney's picture! And sadly it comforts me to have a friend who can understand what it's like to have a kid who doesn't like to sit for shopping. Looks like your work really paid off. I miss Publix.
