Well, now it's the kitchen's turn. I'm totally second guessing the color, but, as Allen pointed out, I haven't been too sure about any of the colors. I think it's because they are so different than what we've been looking at for the last 7 years, and it's a huge change. Allen really likes this color, though, and I will too. And like Joy said, you love the color because it's finished!
The kitchen was much harder than I thought it was going to be. I taped everything up, because there was lots of cutting in, and the darn tape bled everywhere. Maybe I'm not doing the tape right. You can still mess up, too, with the tape, because if you don't tape straightly, you still don't get a good result. Apparently you can add "can't tape straight" to my resume.
I edged the ceiling with a paintbrush. Not fun. I think I have a new idea for edging the ceilings with the popcorn stuff and no crown molding. I'm going to try it today. I haven't fallen off the counter though, trying to paint above the cabinets. That's God right there...
I also have this weird caulking above the counter that I can't get a straight edge because of. Daddy said it may involve caulk removal. Great! I can only imagine the mess I could make with that!
I caved and called Daddy for advice. He was so sweet, offering to come help. I told him to hold off until we got to the two story stairwell. I told him I wasn't the expert painter he was, and he told me a great story.
He finished up a job one day, and the husband and wife were talking about how clean the painters were when they were done. Daddy laughed and told them that they do get some on their hands and maybe arms, but they do stay pretty clean. The wife glanced over at the husband and said to Daddy, "When he's through painting something, it looks like he's been painting with a live chicken!"
That's me. Live chicken lady.
In an effort to stay cleaner, I used plastic gloves and one of Allen's old hats. They made me too hot, so I ditched them. And yes, I still have paint in my hair.
The color is much more orangy than pink than it's showing in these pics. It's very terracotta, which is what I was going for.
I'm going to try to do one more wall today-the one with the stove on it. I'm so ready for a big, blank wall. Until now, I think those who think this is fun are a tiny bit crazy! *smack*
